Hey there, what an amazing fishing trip we had in Indianapolis! I'm so glad I got the chance to take Pravieen Kumar out on the water for a day of inshore fishing at the Kaveri River Basin. February is a great time to target a variety of species in this region, with the mild weather and active fish looking to feed.
We met up at the Indianapolis meeting spot around 3:00 pm and wasted no time getting our lines in the water. The skies were partly cloudy, perfect conditions for tempting the fish to strike. We started off focusing on the flats, using a mix of live bait and lures to target Sooty grunter, Ladyfish, and Crevalle jack. The action was steady, with Pravieen getting dialed in and landing fish consistently. At one point, his line went screaming as a solid Bull shark took the bait - what a thrill to get that much power on the line!
As the day went on, we adjusted our tactics, working some deeper structure to find Gag and even a nice Tarpon. Pravieen was a natural, reading the water and making great presentations to tempt these gamefish. The Kaveri River basin is such a diverse fishery, and we got to experience a little bit of everything - from the explosive strikes of the Crevalle jacks to the acrobatics of the Tarpon. It was a real treat to have such an engaged and skilled angler along for the ride.
