Ready to hit the waters around Boston for some serious striper action? This inshore fishing trip with Barron Outfitters puts you right where the fish are feeding, just off the iconic Boston Sea Coast. With Captain Rich at the helm, you'll experience what locals have known for generations - these waters hold some of the best striped bass fishing on the East Coast. Whether you're bringing the family for a day on the water or looking to land that trophy fish you've been dreaming about, this trip delivers the kind of authentic New England fishing experience that keeps anglers coming back season after season. We keep groups small at 8 guests max, so you get personalized attention and plenty of room to work.
This isn't your typical crowded party boat situation. Captain Rich runs a tight ship with a focus on putting you on fish while making sure everyone has a great time. The Boston Sea Coast offers incredible variety - from rocky structure where stripers ambush bait to sandy flats where flounder cruise the bottom. You'll start early when the bite is hot, working the prime spots that only locals know about. The boat is equipped with quality gear, but feel free to bring your own setup if you've got favorites. Kids are absolutely welcome - in fact, some of our best trips happen when young anglers get their first taste of New England saltwater fishing. The waters here change with the tides and seasons, so Captain Rich adjusts tactics based on what's working that day. Expect to move around, covering different depths and structures as we follow the fish.
Inshore fishing around Boston means adapting to what the fish want on any given day. We'll be using a mix of live bait, artificials, and cut bait depending on conditions and target species. For stripers, live eels and chunk herring are deadly, especially around structure during tide changes. When the bass are schooled up and feeding on top, throwing poppers and swimmers creates heart-stopping surface strikes. Bottom fishing for black sea bass means dropping jigs and bait rigs to rocky areas where these tasty fish hang out. The gear is medium to heavy tackle - strong enough to handle good-sized fish but still sporting enough to feel every fight. Captain Rich will set you up with the right rigs and show you the techniques that work best in these waters. If bluefin show up, we'll switch to heavier gear and work the areas where bait concentrates.
"Booked the trip for my son for his 8th birthday. Captain Rich was very nice and made the experience successful for the kids and enjoyable. Our son was very excited about the fish he caught and had the best time, thank you so much!" - Kan
"I had an amazing time yesterday on my trip. It was my first time fishing off shore fishing in the Atlantic, and I am so glad that I chose Tuna Wahoo Fishing Charters. Meeting up with Captain Rich Adler and first mate Paul was like meeting up with friends you haven't seen in a while. The fishing was amazing and the conversation and Information I learned about the fishing there was great as well. I will definitely book another trip with them the next time I am in West Palm Beach" - Kank
Striped Bass are the crown jewel of New England inshore fishing, and Boston's waters hold some true giants. These fish are built for power - silver-sided missiles that can strip line off your reel in seconds. Spring and fall offer the best action when large schools migrate along the coast, but summer holds plenty of keeper fish around structure. Stripers are smart and moody, which makes catching them so satisfying. They feed heavily on herring, mackerel, and eels, often pushing bait to the surface in spectacular feeding frenzies. A good striper will test your drag and your technique, making runs toward structure or diving deep when hooked. Most guests are amazed by how hard these fish fight relative to their size.
Black Sea Bass might not get the headlines, but they're fantastic table fare and surprisingly scrappy fighters. These bottom dwellers love rocky structure, wrecks, and reefs where they can ambush prey. They're curious fish that will often investigate your bait before committing, and once hooked, they use their broad sides and stubborn nature to make you work. Summer through early fall is prime time, when they're most active and feeding heavily. Black sea bass have personality - they'll often hang around the boat after you release one, seemingly watching the action. Kids love catching them because they're usually cooperative and make great eating.
Bluefin Tuna represent the ultimate inshore prize when conditions align. These are apex predators built for speed and endurance, capable of incredible bursts that will test your equipment and stamina. While not guaranteed on every trip, when bluefin move into Boston's waters chasing bait, the fishing can be world-class. They typically show up when water temperatures are right and bait concentrations are thick. A hooked bluefin will make long, powerful runs that can take you into your backing multiple times. Even smaller school fish pack serious punch, and landing one is a badge of honor among serious saltwater anglers.
The Boston Sea Coast offers some of the most consistent and diverse inshore fishing on the East Coast, and Captain Rich knows these waters like his backyard. Whether you're after your first striper, looking to introduce kids to saltwater fishing, or hoping to tangle with a bluefin, this trip puts you in position to succeed. The combination of productive waters, experienced guidance, and small group size creates the perfect setup for a memorable day on the water. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak season when the fishing is hot. Don't wait - book your trip with Barron Outfitters and experience why anglers keep coming back to these legendary New England waters.

These chunky members of the grouper family are perfect for family trips - most run 1-4 pounds with the occasional 8-pounder to get everyone excited. You'll find them around wrecks, rocky bottom, and old pilings in less than 120 feet of water. Late spring through summer is prime time when they move inshore. What makes them special? They're born female and change to male as they grow, plus they put up a solid fight until they break the surface. The meat is excellent eating too. Here's a local trick: when you're fishing the bottom structure, use a two-hook rig with squid strips and keep your bait moving slightly - they like a little action rather than dead still bait.

These are the giants that serious anglers dream about - averaging 6.5 feet and 550 pounds, but they can hit 12 feet and over 1,000 pounds. You'll find them in both cold and warm waters since they're one of the few warm-blooded fish. They cruise at 43 mph and dive to 3,300 feet, making them tough fighters with powerful surface runs and deep dives. The meat is world-famous - especially for sashimi. Spring through fall is your best shot when they're following bait schools. Here's what works: troll with herring or mackerel during morning and evening hours when they bite most aggressively. Heavy tackle is a must, and don't forget that sturdy fishing belt - you'll need it.

Stripers are the backbone of our inshore fishing - most run 20-40 pounds with those classic dark stripes down silver sides. They love structure like drop-offs, sand bars, and shoreline rocks where they hunt in moving water. Spring through fall migration brings the best action, especially dawn and dusk when they feed near the surface. What guests love? They're strong fighters and excellent eating with sweet, flaky meat. These fish are picky about bait - live herring, mackerel, or eels work best. Local tip: fish the moving water near bridges and piers during tide changes. Use an 8-12 foot rod with braided line, and remember they prefer cooler water temps between 55-68°F.
