Exploring the vibrant underwater world and spotting a striking tropical fish.
Today was a great day to be out on the water with Pravieen Kumar for a fishing trip in the Kaveri River Basin. The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, which made for ideal conditions to target some big fish in the river. As an experienced guide with Guide the trip, I was excited to show Pravieen some of the best backwater fishing spots around the Alaska Peninsula.
We started the day launching the boat at the meeting spot and got our lines in the water around 11:30 am. The water was moving nicely, and we could see baitfish working the surface, which was a good sign. I suggested we try some live bait fishing, and it didn't take long before Pravieen's rod bent over with a powerful strike. He fought the fish hard, and as it broke the surface, I could see it was a massive Bull shark. What a great start to the day! We carefully brought the shark alongside the boat, snapped a quick photo, and released it unharmed.
The rest of the trip went just as well, with Pravieen landing a few more nice fish. Though we didn't manage to land any more big sharks, the action was steady, and we had a great time out on the water. Between the bites, we took in the beautiful Kaveri River Basin scenery and enjoyed the peaceful solitude that only backwater fishing can provide. It was the perfect mix of excitement and relaxation.
